According to Santa Rosa Press Democrat, police will be on the lookout for unsafe motorcyclists and drivers.
Extra officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur. They will be looking for violations made by drivers and riders that can lead to motorcycle crashes such as vehicle drivers and motorcyclists driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, making illegal turns or any other dangerous violation.
According to Sgt. Rich Celli, the purpose of this activity is to raise motorcycle safety awareness. Last year, the department investigated 34 injury collisions involving motorcyclists. Report said that the main causes of motorcycle crashes include speeding, unsafe turning and impairment due to alcohol and drugs.
