Freedom Road MTC is proud to offer certified motorcycle training programs sponsored by the internationally recognized Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). The RETS (Rider Education and Training System) curriculum provides a research-based approach to motorcyclist education, promoting lifelong learning and continuous professional development for certified RiderCoaches.

At Freedom Road MTC, the top priority is teaching riders how to operate their motorcycle with safety and confidence. Certified instructors receive ongoing training to ensure they stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and best practices. The MSF-sponsored program promotes advanced risk management skills that can be applied not just to motorcycling but also to everyday driving conditions.

A Comprehensive Training Experience

Upon registration, students will receive an online e-course that can be completed in approximately 5 hours before their class date. On-site training consists of two sessions, each lasting around 11 hours of range time, where riders will put their new skills into practice on one of the expertly maintained training bikes.

Basic Rider Course

Duration: 10 hours

The Freedom Road MTC offers the highly acclaimed Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified Basic RiderCourse (BRC), designed to teach motorcyclists of all ages and skill levels how to ride safely.

Class Options and Schedule

Freedom Road MTC currently offers the following classes:

Basic RiderCourse: A comprehensive course covering essential riding skills, including motorcycle controls, safety awareness, and on-bike training.
BRC2 Skills Practice: An advanced course providing additional practice opportunities for those who have already completed the BRC or other equivalent courses.

Course Requirements and Evaluation

Upon completion of the online e-course (approximately 5 hours), students will receive an MSF completion card that is accepted by the Alaska DMV for the skills portion of their licensing requirements. However, it's essential to note that there are two parts to obtaining a motorcycle license: the written test at the DMV and the hands-on skills evaluation during our BRC course.

Required Gear

To ensure safety on our range training days, students must bring:

A valid driver's license or learner's permit
Proof of eCourse completion and waiver
Parent or guardian to sign forms if under 18 years old (optional)
DOT-approved helmet
Shirt or jacket with long sleeves
Long pants (jeans or motorcycle pants; no leggings)
Over-the-ankle boots with rubber soles (no leather-soled cowboy boots, as traction is crucial)
Full-fingered gloves (preferably leather)
Please note that failure to bring required gear may result in being asked to leave the course and forfeiting your entire class fee.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Due to limited class space, all fees are non-refundable. However, please contact us if you need to cancel or reschedule for any reason so we can work with you. Please be aware that a $25-$100 admin fee may apply depending on the notice period.

Safety First

At Freedom Road MTC, safety is our top priority. We reserve the right to ask students who pose an unnecessary risk to themselves, other students, or staff to leave the course and forfeit their class fees. Examples of such behavior include:

Not wearing proper riding gear
Failing to follow instructor instructions or safety guidelines
Showboating on bikes
Riding under the influence of any substance
Administrative Fees

For rescheduling classes, an admin fee may apply as follows:

$25 for 7+ days prior to class start date
$50 for 3-6 days prior to class start date
$100 if less than 2 days before class starts

Freedom Road MTC's highly respected motorcycle training programs are available for those looking to enhance and build upon their skills. Their BRC2 Skills Practice course is designed for experienced motorcyclists who want to refine their techniques or those who have already completed equivalent courses.

Classes Offered
The following classes are offered:

Additionally, Freedom Road MTC provides private instruction sessions in individual or small group settings. If someone would like to schedule a BRC2 Skills Practice course, license waiver, or private lessons, they can contact the training center directly.

Online Course Registration

Upon registering for their courses, students will receive an email with instructions on how to access and complete the online eCourse (approximately 5 hours). This is essential preparation before their class date. Their printed and signed waiver must be brought along with proof of completion.

In-Class Training
In-person training at reserved dates consists of around 10 hours of range training, divided into two sessions. Participants should be prepared to ride on Day One!

Please note that failure to bring the required gear may result in being asked to leave the course and forfeiting their entire class fee. The training center runs rain or shine, but it's always a good idea to check their website for any updates before attending.

Cancellation/Refund Policy
Due to the limited space available in each class, all fees are non-refundable. However, if someone is unable to attend their scheduled class date, they should reach out to the training center so that they can try and assist with rescheduling or providing alternative arrangements.

Freedom Road MTC prioritizes the safety of everyone on their courses above all else. If at any point during training an instructor feels that a student is posing an unnecessary risk, they may be asked to leave and forfeit their entire fee. Reasons for dismissal include:

Not wearing proper riding gear
Failing to follow safety or exercise instructions
Showboating
Being under the influence of any amount of drugs or alcohol
Admin Fees
If someone needs to reschedule their class, please note that the training center charges an admin fee based on the number of days' notice provided:

The training center also reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to unforeseen circumstances, at which point they'll contact you as soon as possible.
