How to Get a Motorcycle License in Ohio

Motorcycle License Requirements in Ohio

If you want to be among the reported 600,000 motorcyclists in the Buckeye State, first get your State of Ohio motorcycle driver’s license.

Basic Requirements for the License

To apply for a motorcycle driver’s license, you have to get first a learner’s permit at any Ohio Department of Public Safety. You need to be at least 15 ½ years old and must get a learner’s permit by following this process:

  • Study and review a copy of the Motorcycle Ohio. To get the motorcycle permit, bring the proof that you have successfully completed the course to the exam station and pass the road test. After passing the road test or the skills test, you will receive your motorcycle driver’s license or endorsement.

    The Motorcycle Safety Course

The State of Ohio recommends motorcycle training for both beginners and experienced motorcycle riders to learn more about motorcycle operation and help reduce the risk of riding. Once you met all the licensing requirements, you will be given a motorcycle driver’s permit or endorsement. You are then free to ride and operate a motorcycle anywhere in Ohio.
