Motorcycle Riding Schools in Virginia

Motorcycling in any state requires you to have a motorcycle license or endorsement.

One of the easiest ways to learn to ride (and increase your chances to pass your license exams) is to learn how to ride a motorcycle through a motorcycle driving school.   And, one of the best ways to learn to ride is by learning through a motorcycle driving school approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

Here is a list of some motorcycle riding schools in Virginia:

Apex Cycle Education

Apex Cycle Education is Virginia’s and DC’s leading source for motorcycle safety training, licensing and education. They offer Basic, Riding refresher, Advanced, Scooter and Sidecar/Trike courses. This motorcycle training center is certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), Evergreen Safety Council (ESC), and Total Control Training. Also, they are licensed by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.

Black Wolf Harley-Davidson

The Black Wolf H-D in Bristol, Virginia offers motorcycle training programs for new and experienced riders through Rider’s Edge Academy of Motorcycling. Blue Ridge Community College

The Blue Ridge Community College offers Motorcycle Rider Skills Training under their Continuing Education Program. If you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle but have never driven a motorcycle before then enroll for a Basic Rider Course; then come back for the Experienced Rider Course. These Virginia Rider Training program courses are co-sponsored by the BRCC Workforce Services and Continuing Education Division and the Virginia department of Motor Vehicles. Central Virginia Motorcycle School, LLC

Central Virginia Motorcycle School offers motorcycle training course for new riders and experienced riders. Upon completion of the Basic Riders Course, riders will be exempted from the DMV testing motorcycle licensing. To register, you can contact (703) 328- 1200 or (540) 272- 7474 or register online. Colonial Harley-Davidson

If you want to learn how to ride, the Colonial Harley-Davidson in Prince George, Virginia offers motorcycle training courses through Rider’s Edge. It is a 25 hour beginner skills course, designed to teach you from start to finish how to ride safely while having fun. For more information, please call 804-861-4700.

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College

The Motorcycle Rider Courses of DSLCC are offered every spring, summer and fall as three-day Division of Motor vehicles-sanctioned safety classes that will improve riding skills and knowledge of riders as well as to reduce the chances for two-wheeled mishap.  All courses are approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Danville Community College

The Danville Community College offers Motorcycle Rider Program for new and experienced riders. According to their website, two of the courses – the Experienced Rider course and the Sidecar/Trike course – are non-credit courses while the Basic Rider course, students have the option to earn one credit. Five Star Services Motorcycle Academy

This is the Motorcycle Rider Training School in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia that offers small classes, friendly coaches and two training sites. According to their website, Five Star Services, LLC have experts that will provide you with superior motorcycle rider training services.  They offer courses approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Moto Haven

Moto Haven offers Motorcycle Safety Training Course and are certified by the Department of Motor Vehicle and by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. According to their website, Moto Haven is dedicated to sharing their passion for motorcycling with everybody. It is their hope and desire that everybody will engage motorcycling as more than just a hobby. They offer both Basic Rider Course and Experienced Rider Course. Motorcycle Safety Center

Motorcycle Safety Center of Virginia, Inc. (MSCV) according to their site was founded by Fred Austin in May 2003. He was a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach and Instructor. They offer Basic Rider Course, Basic Rider Course 2, Advanced Riding Clinic and Sidecare/Trike courses. To register, please call 804-368-0989.

Motorcycle Riding Concept

The Motorcycle Riding Concept in Virginia offers motorcycle rider training to all Beginner, Advanced and Expert motorcycle riders or operators. They held classes at Fairfax and Dumfries, Virginia.  They teach all levels of motorcycle rider essential core such as maximum effective braking, curve negotiation turning skills, collision and obstacle avoidance and many more. New River Community College

The New river community College has a Motorcycle safety Program that offers Basic Rider, Extended basic Rider, Experienced Rider and Sidecar/Trike Courses.  All Rider Coaches or instructors are experienced motorcycle operators who are nationally certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  The curriculum they follow is approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  You can register in person or contact (540) 674-3697 or fax (540) 674-3634.

Northern Virginia Community College

The Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus offers the Motorcycle Rider Training Program for all riders. According to their official website, this program is offered through the Office of Workplace Development and is the most popular program. They offer a variety of classes for all types of riders, whether you are just starting out to looking to take your riding skills to the next level. Patriot Harley-Davidson

The Patriot Harley-Davidson in Fairfax, Virginia offers the Rider’s Edge New Rider Course that teaches basic motorcycle skills to new and skilled riders.  Their staff are experienced motorcycle enthusiasts and police motorcycle officers who are passionate about helping new riders get started on the right track.  Courses are approved by the motorcycle Safety foundation. Southwest Virginia Community College

You can start riding a motorcycle through classes offered by the Virginia rider training Mobile Program that offer Riding and Street Skills and Experienced Rider Courses. The Beginning Rider Class is a two credit class and the tuition is subject to change due to State-level decisions. Virginia Highlands Community College

The Virginia Highlands Community College has a motorcycle training program that includes both Basic Rider Course and Experienced Course for new and skilled riders.
